Samhain (pronounced sow-in) is one of Ireland biggest holidays, and responsible for what is now known the world-over as, Halloween. Long before children's costumes and candy bags, people would gather together to honor the turning of another year, after the preparations for winter from the summer harvest were finished, but before the cold bite of true winter had set in. At this time when the veil between the worlds is thinnest, people gathered together to connect to the ancestors and the spirit world.

Together, we will be visiting ancient mystical sites, such as the "Cave of the Cats," Newgrange, Loughcrew, and the Hill of Tara, and engaging with the magic that is waiting for us. We will hear native storytellers and musicians at the renown Púca Festival, and witness the lighting of the bonfire near Tlachtga, the ancient Irish site of Samhain gatherings, lit every year to honor the ancestors at this sacred time. Just as the celebrations in the spring are honoring what is growing and blossoming, the time of Samhain is a blessed celebration of what is dead or dying, an essential part to the unending cycle of life in our world; the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth, and the natural process of change in our lives.
